The bunny sleeps at night

Easter may be my favorite holiday. I like that it means spring is coming and that it's date is determined by the stars -- the sun and the moon to be more exact. It's the first Sunday after the first full moon after the vernal equinox. So, since yesterday was the equinox and tonight's the full moon, the very early date of March 23 is Easter this year.

Sorry, folks, Easter just isn't about the resurrection for me. It's not about bunnies, either. It's about the warming sun and the longer days. I know, I know, I'm such a unreformed pagan.

And we all know what this very early Easter means up here in the NEK, don't we?
Snow, snow, and more snow.

There have actually been Easters here where it was sunny and warm. But not many. We sat outside and played cards at the picnic table. The teenaged girls attempted to sunbathe. The teenaged boys did some fence jumping. And, you could actually hide eggs for the kids in something other than snowdrifts.
